Mother Of God, 5-14-67
By Dr. Wesley A. Swift - 5-14-67
It is a fitting thing that in the nations of Israel we set aside a day called “Mother’s Day.” There is nothing more important to our Faith than that which revolves around a mother. For if we have the Ark and the Keystone of our Christian Faith, the Resurrection, then the foundation stone is the Virgin Birth.
One of the mysteries that surround the great patterns of revelation is the fact that you and I may not select our mothers, but God selected His mother. When we talk of the mother of God, we are totally supported by the Scriptures. It is a very strange thing but Protestants’ haven’t talked too much about the areas of the Mother of God, and yet it is very much in the Scriptures. We will discuss this area and its meaning.
When God was ready to establish the household of His people in the earth, and to bring forth His Kingdom, there were areas which were a mystery to those of the earth. But in the Wisdom of His creation He begat the Adamic races for the occupancy of His Spiritual children. He did something special when He produced the pattern of the Adamic race, for He placed His sons and daughters in the world. Then when He had prepared a wife for Adam by taking Eve from him, He again applied a tremendous Spiritual emphasis. For His Spiritual children had lived in the heavens and been guided by His Spirit, and in their incorruptible seed, their spiritual consciousness was in the areas of perfection. The Attitude for God’s love for His creation and His attitude toward all He had placed in operation throughout the ages was one of an extensive patterns of concern and one of love that could not be found in any other area of the Universe.
When the children of the Most High God had been begotten in the Universe they thought as their Father thought, and in the planes of Spirit that was incorruptible. When He placed in the Adamic world a helpmate for Adam and established the mother of the race He permitted the capacity of love and the capacity of understanding that is a magnificent pattern and standard to descend upon Eve. In fact, we are to know in the course of time that the mothers in the House of Israel were to carry the anxiety and love for their sons and daughters and this was one of the most important areas in the makeup of God’s Kingdom. We may well understand that the Kingdom of God is established upon the most compact unit and this is the family. With the construction of the family and the structure of the family, upon this God brings together the Household of His Kingdom. Then we are to understand that in this structure the mother plays a most important part. She must not only give birth to t he child but she must nurture that child, she must bring him up to understand the knowledge and Will of God. It is her responsibility and has been from the earliest times, in the House of Israel, down to this day to see that her child has the knowledge of God and the wisdom of God. That the child is in attendance in the convocations of the Kingdom. In all these things the mother plays her part.
In the periods of a struggle and of war it is the mothers heart that is filled with anxiety above all anxiety because she sees her son marching unto war. In this hour here in 1967., the mother’s of Israel see their sons marching off to war. They pray for their victory and for their safe return, but their hearts are filled with anxiety and their prayers are filled with love. So it is that we have watched the mothers of Israel throughout the ages, and we realize that God has kept this one and important factor, this love of mothers, a definite part of the structure of our society.
What kind of mother would God select? For strangely enough God is the only one whoever selected His mother. Back in the prophecies of Isaiah in the 9th., Chapter we find: “A virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and thou shall call his name Immanuel.” Meaning, ‘God with us.’
There came that period of time when in the fullness of expectation the girls of Palestine were anticipating that one of them might become the mother of the Messiah. For years they had anticipated this and all the girls of the House of David and of the House of Levi who were left in the House of David, wondered if they might be the mothers of the Messiah. Many problems were brought upon them by the Jew’s who were in control of their Temples, and the imperialistic conquest and control by Rome was also over their land, and yet they wondered if one of them might bring forth The Messiah, the conqueror of the earth, the earth shaker, the one who would establish the Kingdom of Israel and place its reign high in positions of power. Upon all these girls the Spirit of God was moving and guiding and working for their Faith.
Then came the selection of Mary who in her purity and her holiness and in her devotion was devoted to the Most High God. Mary had been raised close to the Temple because she was a daughter of the line of David, but also of the Levi Priest line. He cousin Elizabeth was married to Zachariah who was one of the High Priest’s in the company of Israel, the true High Priest’s in the city of Bethlehem. Thus it was that we are told that one day an Angel came to this Virgin called Mary (Luke 1:26) “In the 6th., month the Angel Gabriel was sent from God, unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth.”
Over six months before this, an Angel had appeared unto Mary’s cousin named Elizabeth telling her that tho she was of a good age still she was to have a child, and that this child she would have would be the ‘messenger who would be the one to prepare the way of God.’ He would be John the Baptist. So in the 6th., month the Angel Gabriel was sent to Galilee and to the city of Nazareth to a Virgin, espoused to a man whose name was Joseph and he was of the House of David, and the Virgin’s name was Mary. The Angel came to Mary and said: “Hail, highly favored, blessed art thou among women.”
In the ritual’s of some of the church the areas of this Magnificent and the one that emerges from Mary is woven into their rituals. They often repeat this...”Blessed art thou above all women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.” In this instance the Angel said:..”Hail, highly favored, blessed art thou among women.”
Mary was troubled in her mind when she saw the Angel of the Lord, and she wondered in her mind what manner of Salutation this would be.
Verse 30...”And the angel said unto her, fear not Mary, for thou hast found favor with Yahweh.”
Verse 31...”Thou shall conceive in thy womb and bring forth a son and shall call his name Yahshua.”
What a thrill must have gone thru Mary at those words, for she would remember that from the lips of the Prophet Isaiah had come these words: “I Yahweh am thy Yahshua. Behold! I am thy Savior, I am thy God.” Mary hears these words from the Angel Gabriel, that she is to bring forth a child, and when that child is begotten he shall be called...Yahshua.
Verse 32...”He shall be great, and shall be called---the Embodiment of the Highest, and Yahweh- -God- shall bestow upon him the throne of His father David.”
Verse 33...”He shall reign over the house of Jacob, for ever; and of his Kingdom there shall be no end.”
Verse 34...”And Mary said unto the Angel: How shall this be, seeing I know no man?”
Verse 35...”The Angel said unto Mary: The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that Holy thing which shall come from thee, shall be known as the Embodiment of God.”
Verse 36-37...”Behold, your cousin Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age, and this is the 6th., month for her who was called barren: But with Yahweh nothing is impossible.”
Verse 38...”Mary said: Behold! the handmaid of the Lord, be it unto me according to thy word.” Then the Angel departed from her.
We are told that Mary, in those days, arose and went into the hill country with haste into a city of Judah. And as she entered the home of Zacharias and she saluted or greeted Elizabeth the babe leaped in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
Verse 42-43...Under the influence of the Holy Spirit Elizabeth spoke with aloud voice: “Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, and whence is this to me that the mother of My Lord, Yahshua, should could to me?” This was a special type of Pentecost for Elizabeth for as she listened to Mary she was filled with the Holy Spirit of God. Yes, Mary was to be the mother of God.
This was even a new experience for God, for He had never before selected a household into which He would be born. God the Eternal One. The one who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. God who rolled forth the patterns of the creations, the magnitude of the Sidereal immensities that we see beyond. He who never had a beginning and never had an ending. But God had so purposed the area of His redemption and the establishment of the promise that He would be a Savior of His people, that He had told them before the foundations of the world that “I will emerge out of the household that I shall begat. Even as you shall be that Household.”
We will turn here for a moment to the Book of Hebrews. The Apostle Paul is speaking and he says this about Yahshua-Jesus. “He came just a little lower than the Angel’s.” Why? (Hebrews 2:14-16)
For as much then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood then He also took part of the same through death that He might destroy him that had power of death, that this is the devil. And deliver them who thru fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. For verily He took not on himself the nature of Angel’s, but He took on Himself the seed of Abraham.
How did He do this? He was begotten in a body of flesh, He took upon Himself a body of flesh such as you His children had. “Therefore in all things it behooved Him to be made like unto His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in all things pertaining to God, to make a reconciliation for the transgressions of His people. For in that He Himself hath suffered, being tempted, He is able to succor those that are tempted.”
We see Jesus just a little lower than the Angel’s, crowned with Glory and Honor and with the Grace of God that He might taste death for all men. “For it was becoming unto Him for whom are all things made to bring His many sons unto the Glory and to become the Captain of their Salvation.” For He who set them apart, and those who are set apart, are all one. And God the Eternal Father is not ashamed to say that you and I are His brethren.
The magnitude of God, embodied in the flesh is one of the greatest mysteries of the Christian Church and it’s Faith. Mary had been selected for this honor by the Spirit of God. She was selected because she was the cleanest, the finest, the best, that could be found in this day and for this hour of His coming. She had been prepared, and protected and guided and trained for this hour. Then the Angel, Gabriel, comes to Mary and tells her that she has been selected to be the Mother of God.
Then Elizabeth says: “Blessed is the fruit of thy womb.” Why does the Mother of My Yahshua, My God, come to me, for as soon as your greeting sounded in my ears then the babe in my womb leaped with joy. Lo, Blessed is she that believed, for there shall be a performance of those things told to her of the Lord.
Mary was also moved by the Spirit and said: “My soul doth magnify the Lord, My spirit hath rejoiced in Yahweh My Savior. For He hath regarded the low estate of His handmaiden; for behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.”
Thus on Mother’s day we can remember to refer to Mary as “Blessed by the Most High God.” It was her privilege to become the mother of the Most High God, and thus was in her Magnificent speaking forth: “He that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is His name.”
Verse 50: “His mercy is on them that love Him from generation to generation.”
Verse 51: “He hath shewed strength with his arms; he hath gathered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.”
Verse 52: “He hath put down the mighty from their seats and exalted them of low degree.”
Verse 53: “He hath filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he hath sent empty away.”
Verse 54: “He hath helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy.”
Verse 55: “He spake to our Fathers, to Abraham and his seed forever.”
Mary abode with Elizabeth and her husband about three months then returned to Galilee, and her own home in the city of Nazareth.
Turn now to the Book of Matthew in the first chapter and the 18th., verse. “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise; When his mother, Mary, was espoused to Joseph but before they came together she was found with child, of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph, her husband, being a just man and not willing to make of her a public example, was minded to put her away, but the Angel of the Lord came to Joseph and said: Fear not to take unto thee, Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. For she shall bring forth a son and thou shall call his name...Yahshua; for he shall save his people from their sins. All of this is done that the words of the Prophet shall be fulfilled. Behold! A virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a son and his name shall be called Immanuel, which means God with us.”
All this was told to Joseph as he slept and he arose and accepted Mary as his wife and protected her, and knew her not until she had brought forth her first born Son and Joseph called him...Yahshua-Jesus.
During those intervening months we think of the pondering of the heart of Mary, as she realized she was with Child of the Holy Spirit. And the words of the Angel rang through her m ind and her heart for she was to become the Mother of the Messiah...the embodiment of God.
When the time came for Joseph and Mary to go to Bethlehem to pay the taxes, she went obediently, not knowing that there would be no place in the Inn, or that she would have to move into the stable. We are told in the Book of Matthew that it happened this way:.......
There was no room in the Inn and her child was delivered in a stable and laid in a manger. Little did Mary realize as she passed through this experience that this would become one of the greatest spectacles of all times. She had been selected from all women to become the mother of God. The Angel’s were summoning the Shepherds from the mountains. The Wisemen of Israel had forseen this event from the hour of the beginning of her pregnancy and were hurrying to the birthplace. They would be arriving in the land of Palestine at the time she was giving birth. The Angel’s in their heavenly crafts were above the shepherds on the hills and were singing the first Christmas Carols and saying:..”Peace on Earth and to men of good will.” The great search lights of the heavenly crafts shown down on the Shepherds and as they looked up they were told to go to the city of Bethlehem for there they would find the babe.. ..the embodiment...the Messiah.
The shepherds knew the story of the coming of the Messiah, but never expected that a special announcement would be made unto them. So the Shepherds came to worship the babe, and later the Wisemen came and they presented to Mary as gifts for her child, the Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. They paid homage to Mary, these great Wisemen of Israel, and her heart was filled with the Mystery. Then the child was taken to the Temple to be dedicated as was their custom and their course. Then Simeon the High Priest said: “Now my eyes have beheld the Messiah. I that the very God has been begotten, now I can die in Peace.” As Mary and Joseph and the child returned to Bethlehem the Wisemen were getting ready to depart and they warned again that this family must go into Egypt for safety.
Thus we feel the anxiety of Mary as she feared for her son. She wanted to preserve her child and yet she also remembered the words of the Angel and she thought, if this were the Messiah then he would be protected by the Spirit of the Most High, and no harm would come to her son until His time.
The fourth Wiseman arrived in Bethlehem but he was too late to see the Christ child for Joseph and Mary had taken the child and gone into Egypt to the Temple of On, and between the paws of the Sphinx in its inner Temple they remained until the death of Herod. Then on hearing of this they quickly returned to their home in Nazareth. Mary had been teaching her child the things she thought he should know but he had mystified her many times as he told his mother of heavenly things, even as a babe. We find this in the Protevangelian and in the Story of Christ, how in his early boyhood he would say to his mother...”YE teach me...now I tell you.” Then he would tell her of the mysteries of heaven, and Mary would ponder these things in her heart, for deep was the wonderment of Mary, that her child would know so much.
When Jesus reached the age of 12 years they went down to Jerusalem and to the Temple to dedicate him as this was their custom, and then Joseph was gathering supplies for his carpenter shop and they started home with the group in which they were traveling, and they discovered that Jesus was not with them. Again we find Mary is anxious and she wondered..”where have I lost him?” In Jerusalem once more they found Jesus in the Temple and he was amazing the Priest’s and the Scribe’s with his knowledge. He turned to his mother and said:..”Knowest not that I must do the work of the Kingdom of God?” Again Mary pondered these things in her heart.
At the age of 19 years Jesus went with Mary’s brother...Joseph of Arimathea who was the great trader and owner of the tin mines of Cornwall in the Isles of Britain. His ships went out through the Mediterranean Sea and up along the coast and to Britain. Then Jesus went to Britain and He attended the Great Druid Universities of Britain and He astounded the great Master’s of those schools and they placed upon Him the title of Chief Wiseman of all. We note that the system of Ancient Masonry in Britain said:....He is an exalted Master of whom we have no higher.
In Glastonbury then Jesus, and the students with, Him builta Wattle Church, and this was to be one of the earliest churches in all Christendom. As Jesus traveled with his mothers brother, Joseph of Arimathea, on his ships then He made several important voyages. One of them was to India and along that coast to Mandalay. Another was a trip to China and along the China Sea, as they went into the country to establish their trading posts...there were colonies of white men, Aryan’s, all that had left their mark in India as well as in portions of Asia, and Jesus spoke unto these Aryan’s and their wise leaders and they beheld in Christ...a Master, and they all acknowledged Him as Master where ever He went.
Joseph of Arimathea told Mary all these things as they returned from those voyages, for Christ had manifested the Wisdom of heaven and earth and never before had there been the wisdom from a lad, and now a young man, so Mary and her brother pondered these things in their hearts.
It was surprising, but then no one had ever brought forth a child before was the Very God. We are told in the Book of Colossians by the Apostle Paul that the fullness of God dwelt bodily in Yahshua-Jesus as He grew into manhood and prepared for His ministry. His mother was always solicitant for His welfare, and always amazed at the miracles He had performed in His youthful days.
Then came the time of His baptism by John the Baptist, as he was about to start His ministry and Mary wondered....when will He establish His Kingdom? What does all this mean? We find Mary always fluttering close to Christ, always seeking after His welfare. In the Synagogue she challenged them when they rebuked Jesus because He spake with what they called too much authority. She challenged them as she said: “This one was revealed to me by an Angel, and he is the embodied God, and he must speak forth in His own name.” So they looked at Mary and they wondered about her son.
We find in the Books of Clement’s that he writes much of the history of Mary and the life of Jesus before he commenced His ministry which was His Messianic ministry at the age of 30 years. Then after that Mary was constantly being thrilled by the stories she heard; how He healed the sick, how He unstopped deaf ears, and opened the eyes of the blind. How He stopped a funeral procession and restored a son to his mother. Mary’s heart leaped with Joy as she heard these things for this was what she had expected, and she expected the Kingdom to be restored. She had gone into Jerusalem when He was to come into that city, for it was said that they were going to crown Him King. Mary was brought to the gates of Jerusalem as Christ entered, and Mary was with the crowd as they sang:..”Hosannah to the King”, she was so moved for this was her child. She felt that this must be the time, for if He was to restore the Kingdom then it should be soon and Israel would be delivered. But she saw Him reject the crown and take the Chalice. She heard Him say: “Tho it is my right to take this crown and wear it, yet I cannot for ifI were to take this crown then I would rule my people in bondage, so I must ask for the Chalice. But someday I will take the crown and My people will fight and the Kingdom will not be given to the Jew’s.”
Mary pondered all these things, then Mary saw her son ascend the steps of the Temple with the Cat-of-9-Tail’s and drive the money changers from the Temple, she heard Him say: “Ye have made my Father’s house a den of liars, thieves and murderers.” She saw the High Priest draw back and she was mystified. Then she was not to see her son for a week, for this was the week in which He was to prepare the program which was to follow. In this week He would partake of the last supper with His disciples, then He would go with them to the Garden of Gethsemane and there He well knew that He would be seized and taken before the High Priest’s Caiaphas, and Annas.
The mother of Jesus, and Mary and Martha were outside the court of the High Priest’s when they tried Him, they were there with Mary Magdalena when they took Him to Pilate, and they crowded as close as they could, but the crowd pushed them back. She heard the Jew’s cry...Crucify Him! Crucify Him! She heard Pilate come out and say:....He is not guilty. Three times he would come and say...He is not guilty, and her heart leaped with the expectation that they would turn Him free, but then was crushed again as she heard the Jew’s say:...”His blood be upon us and upon our children.”
We can think of the experiences of this Mother of God for she had raised a perfect child, she had watched the miracles that He performed, and heard the words that He spoke until the multitude said:..”Never did a man speak like this man spake.” Then she heard Him condemned and heard Pilate say:..”Do as you wish with this man but I wash my hands of the blood of this righteous man.” Then Mary followed as He carried His cross up the hill to Golgotha. She watched as He was fitted to the Cross, and when the hammer came drove those nail’s in His hands and feet, each one of those spikes went through Mary’s heart. For never had her love been so great as when she beheld this infamy as they crucified her son. Never had a mother suffered so much as this one for they nailed..the body of God...to a cross. When they dropped that Cross into a hole in the rock, with a thud, Mary dropped her head for she could not watch what was being done and she wept softly.
Then came the cries from the cross. The last thing God, in his human body did was to take care of His mother. “Honor thy father and thy mother so that thy days may be long in the land that I shall give thee.” God spoke out from the cross and said: ...”Woman behold thy son”, and to His beloved disciple He said:..”John behold thy mother.” Now later Joseph of Arimathea would step in to care for his sister, but at that last moment, Jesus entrusted the care of His mother to His beloved disciple, because on this mountain there were fearful forces at work, in those who had ordered His crucifixion.
Then Jesus said:..”It is finished” and His head dropped. They took His body down and Mary knew that her brother had moved to take his body to his own tomb. They had carefully laid the body away with the spices that were brought from India, by the 3rd., Wiseman. As they rolled that body in the burial cloths encased with spices, they worked with heavy hearts and Mary’s heart was the heaviest of all. She thought...how can this be? For the body of God is dead? If my son was the Messiah and truly He was, for He fulfilled all these things, then how can this be? Mary went with the women, not realizing that the elements of His crucifixion were a part of destiny, for which He came into the world, and He lived His life span. Now the women took Mary to their own household, for the earth was moving and shaking because of the murder of the body of God, the creator of the world that rocked.
Then as it came toward the first day of the week, again came a great rocking of the earth and the stone at the Tomb was rolled away and Christ came forth out of that grave. Mary had not known of this happening at first for it was the other Mary who came to the tomb and discovered He was gone. Mary did not understand when the heavenly messenger said He had risen, so she turned to one she thought might be the gardener and she said:..”They have taken My Lord, and I know not where they have laid Him?” Jesus said: “Mary”, and she knew His voice. Jesus said: “Don’t touch me for My Glory has not gone off me. But go tell the others.” Mary M., rushed back to the home where Mary was staying in her great grief. Here she told the Mother of God, that her son was risen.
Oh, the magnitude of that. The Ark and Keystone, now of our Christian Faith had been cemented now into the Faith of Mary. She came with the women as they ran to see the empty tomb. She was with the disciples in the upper room as they commented on this, and then Christ came into the room. She was there when Thomas said: “I cannot believe until I see the nail prints in His hands,” then Christ came into their midst and said: “Come Thomas. See that I am alive.” Then “Blessed are those children who have not seen and yet believe.” Thomas said: “My Lord, and My God.” Mary’s heart was thrilled as she listened to Jesus.
Then that hour came when Jesus and the disciples and the women went out toward the hills north of Jerusalem, and they said to Jesus: “Tell us Master, when is the Kingdom of Israel to be restored? When are the powers of darkness to be broken?” But Jesus was to tell them that at this time they were not to know, rather, they were to tarry in Jerusalem until they would be filled with power from on high. Then a cloud approached the Mountain, and Jesus went into the cloud and said to the Disciples: “Don’t stand starring into that cloud, this same Yahshua shall return in the same manner as you have seen Him go. You return to Jerusalem as He instructed you and wait until you receive the power from above.
Then came the day of Pentecost and the Unction of the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples and upon the women who were praying with them, and the Mary the Mother of Jesus was there and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Here we see the opening of the Church Age, the coming to the front of the called out ones. Here we see the start of the magnificence of the testimony of the Church, its ability to transform the hearts and minds as by Their Faith they caught the pattern of Messiahship, the resurrection, the ascension, and the coming of the Kingdom. So we are to watch the development of the church following the outpouring at Pentecost.
But what of Mary the Mother of God, for John was moving from place to place, proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom until he was confined at Patmos? The deciples were about to leave Palestine and move out from there as their work was done in that area. John was thinking of Mary and his instructions by the Master of the Cross. Now, Joseph of Arimathea would step into the picture, and as the Uncle of Mary he would help to persuade her to leave this land where she had lived thru so much in such few years. Then to go with her Uncle and her friends to a new land where she would be safe. Mary was taken to the Isles and at Glastonbury in Britain a Wattle cottage was built for her by a small spring that is still called Mary’s spring, and a spring that has never run dry. There among the lost sheep of Israel Mary was the first to worship in the Abbetries that Joseph of Arimathea built on that hide of land. Many of the Disciples and Apostles came and went from Britain for it was a safe place for them to rest. Mary died there in Britain and ascended into heaven.
There are some who claim a bodily ascension for Mary but we find no evidence of this. But we do know that Mary was dwelling in Britain until she passed away and her spirit was ushered into the heavens and there it is today awaiting that mighty resurrection which the Scripture assures us will come. The Mother of God had reentered the planes of Spirit from whence she had been begotten. Little did she know as a girl that she would be selected as the Mother of God. But the fulfillment of all the mysteries of the Christian Faith were found to flow through her, as he gave Virgin Birth to the Son of the Highest....the embodiment of the Eternal Yahweh.
When we think back on these things we see that God kept His covenants, and that we are embodied in bodies of flesh. Then in these bodies off flesh we look back over our lives and our earliest remembrance of our Mother’s. We are Christians, and we who are Christians have a great heritage, because our mothers taught us the fullness of our Faith. They started in teaching us the scriptures and how to pray while we stood at mothers knee, and when we at our earliest age of remembrance could repeat after mother.
Mothers saw that we went to Sunday School and to Church, always it was your mothers who worried about the problems that would face you...but always mother was there. The mothers of Israel have been a guiding influence by the Spirit of God, from the days of the starting of the Adamic race unto this hour that we celebrate as Mother’s Day.
We think of the greatest mother of all, the Mother of God, and how upon her came the greatest joy and the greatest anguish. But upon all the mothers of Israel moves the blessing of God because He established within them a capacity for the spiritual quality of heavenly love, to emerge thru them toward their posterity. No people could carry the Administration of the Spirit as Mothers have thru their Love.
Yes, there is the areas of love for all mothers for what they bring forth, from animals and their litters to the mothers of the pagan countries, gone pagan under the influence of Lucifer. But the Love of God that descended upon the mothers of Israel has been beset so many times by the powers of darkness and the hoards of evil which sought to conquer them. The mothers of Israel were praying for their soldier sons while the mothers of the enemy prayed to their pagan gods for victory.
We are told about another mother by the name of Deborah, in the Book of Judges, and how Deborah talked of the things that God did. Here it talks about the kings of the Cainite’s and their mongrel hoards that swept in upon Israel every so often (Judges 4 & 5). There came one by the name of Sisera, who was captain of these hoards and his chariots were of Iron, and for 20 years he oppressed the Children of Israel who were on the northern flank. When they came to battle they would chop down the men with great rotating blades on the wheels of their chariots. Then they would take a spoil and load their chariots and go back to the cities of the Kenites (Cainites) and the Mongols. So it was that the say came when the Mongol hoards and the Cainite leaders were going to take a great spoil from Israel. Sisera rode out with his many chariots following him and his mother waved to him as he led forth his fleet. Then we are told that the Mother of Sisera was waiting for the return of her son and the fruits of his victory. She watched and waited and said: “Why is he so long in coming?”
Little did she know that as the conqueror, Sisera, moved in upon Israel that he stopped for a drink of water by a cabin in Israel. There Jael, a mother of Israel realizing that here was the chief leader of the enemy, brought him milk to drink and things to eat and he laid his head down to take a nap and she killed him with a nail and hammer.
“Blessed above all women of Israel shall be Jael, Blessed shall she be above all in the house and the tent, for she brought down the enemy.” There is some misleading words in the 4th and 5th., chapters of Judges, and in this story found there. Some of Israel lived on the edge of the Kenite (Cainite) country, and the people have to be identified before the story is clear.
“Blessed above all women of Israel, shall be Jael, for she brought down the enemies of God. Her name shall be known forever.” (This is in the Bible)
As the enemy was attacking Israel that day they were brought down by a mother of Israel, who killed their leader, and she was blessed for this deed. But the mother of Sisera, this Queen of power said: “Why does he not return?” The mother of Sisera thought to herself, but why doesn’t he and his army speed home to divide the prey?” They prey....a damsel or two for each of these victorious men, a damsel or two taken from the women of Israel, and to Sisera the fine needle work, the cloth of many colors and all those thing that Sisera brings home for his household.
Verse 31., “But Deborah said: Let all the enemies of our Lord perish: but let them that love Him, be as the sun when He goeth forth in His might.”
While Deborah is saying this the mother of Sisera was saying: Why, doesn’t my mongol earth conquering son return with the spoils. Why? Why? She stayed long at the lattice work of the windows waiting for her warrior son to return with his men and the spoils and the prey.
Looking forward then God said: “This time there will be no prey, this time I will watch over the cities of Israel and over the cities of Judah, I will watch over them like a father, and I will comfort them like a mother. I will stand between Israel and her enemies.
So it shall be today as we again fight the mongol hoards and the mother of Israel will carry the anxiety in their prayers. They call out and they worry about their sons and their daughters. This time there will be an answer....from above.
Suddenly a transformation shall occur, as a thousand fall at her side, and 10,00 at the right hand, but no harm shall come to her, and all mothers of Israel. For we shall emerge out of this conflict with soldiers who cannot be run through or shot, with a mighty resurrection power, of the Most High God.
And a great part of this burden and of the wait and of our survival, and the problems that confront our nation and the nations of Israel, are carried by the Mothers of Israel, but in a very great way.
So we salute the mothers of Israel today and we remember again that each one of them in their service have brought up their children in the nurture of God.
As they look out upon their sons in the midst of the battle they will behold the entrance of the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords when Christ shall return in Majesty and Great Power.
In this mystery we are told that He will bring the Celestial countenances of His big family with Him. And with Christ, returning from the highest heavens, will be the Mother of God, for the resurrection will not leave out Mary, who was selected from among all women as blessed and of the highest.
